Heartbreak For Annagh As Celtic Snatch Last Gasp Winner
Lurgan Celtic scored a winner at Tandragee Road with minutes remaining to snatch all 3 points and deny Annagh what would have been a deserved draw in their opening league fixure of the season. Injury, suspension and unavailability meant that Wilkinson handed first team debuts to 5 players as no fewer than 10 regular players missed the game.
Wilkinson can take heart however from the players that lined up as they matched Celtic for most of the game. John Guy came closest for the home side heading against the cross bar. Jamie Uprichard playing as a lone striker in a 4-1-4-1 formation shot wide from an Andrew Simmons cross and Michael Crowe flashed a header wide after a good free kick delivery found the midfield man alone in the box.
Playing in his only game of the season before his departure to Alabama, Scott Best captained the side and had a superb display at centre back. With only minutes remaining, Niall Lavery cut in from the right wing and curled an execllent left foot shot into the cornerof the goal. Heart break for Annagh after what was a gutsy and hard working performance.
