Ambassadors add insult to injury!
Annagh wrapped up the pre-season fixtures with a third consecutive home defeat to local Mid Ulster side The Ambassadors.
Annagh entered the game with players missing due to injury and other commitments, and unfortunately finished the tie losing striker Quilty, out for up to 5 weeks and centre half Colin Bingham out for 2 weeks with hamstring problems.
Both sides were eager to impress with both facing opening league ties this weekend, however the Ambassadors started lively and took the lead before the interval with a finely working passing move which opened up the home defence to give then a 1-0 lead, Annagh mounted a challenge after the break but failed to capitalise on soem decent work. Annaghs injury was compounded even further later in the second half when the visitors sealed a 2-0 win with a strike from captain and ex Annagh man Michael Irwin.
This was a game Annagh should have won, especially with their first Championship 2 test coming at home this Saturday in the shape of derby side, Lurgan Celtic. It will be important however to get the league started and a win would be a welcome result especially as the following two weeks against Coagh and Killymoon in the Bob Radcliffe and League Cup respectively mean there is no league game until 5th September.
